Summary of Rule Changes for 2008 season following AGM Dec2007

 

Rule Changes:

Match Rule 1c - Fixtures (Page 71 of 2007 TVCL Handbook):

It was approved that the second sentence be deleted and replaced as follows:

“However the non-offending side shall only retain the 20 points providing 40% or more of the fixtures due to be played on that day in the relevant division (e.g. Division 6A) are completed. Otherwise that side shall only be awarded the points applicable for a void match.”

Match Rule 10 - ECB Youth mandates & directives (Pages 77-78 of 2007 TVCL Handbook):

(Updated to reflect all current ECB guidance on youth participation in League Cricket. Two pages worth – consolidation of all legislation/guidance)

Match Rule 5a - Player Eligibility (Page 75 of 2007 TVCL Handbook):

It was approved that a new final sentence is added as follows:

“Transfers conducted in season, notwithstanding whether the transferring player has appeared for the TVCL club he is leaving in either the Home Counties Premier League or Thames Valley Cricket League, must be confirmed by completion of the League’s transfer form, which must then be sent to the League Secretary. NB electronically is acceptable.”

Match Rule 5b2 - Player Eligibility (Page 76 of 2007 TVCL handbook):

It was approved that:

In the first sentence after the words “…Thames Valley League Club” add the words “or a Club merging with a Thames Valley League Club……”

Constitution Paragraph 4 - Administration (Page 65 of 2007 TVCL Handbook):

It was approved that a new paragraph “e” is added as follows:

“Wherever the words “in writing” or “written” appear, this may be by email, fax, or letter only.”

Format of the League Rule 2gPromotion/Relegation (Page 81 of 2007 TVCL Handbook):

It was approved that the “text-boxed” final paragraph be deleted.

Other TVCL Matters

  1. New ECB Umpires Assessment sheet to be used in 2008 – Divisions 1, 2A & 2B. Will be distributed in due course.

 

  1. Any Clubs wishing to order more or fewer balls for 2008, please contact League Treasurer Martin House asap

  1. Outstanding relegation issue in HCPCL – no update but pressure will be put on HCPCL to resolve urgently and if necessary involve ECB. Updates to be placed on League website.

 

  1. RAMADAN becomes a possible issue from 2008. Any Clubs with players who are practising Muslims need to be aware that they will possibly not take food or liquid refreshment if playing cricket during Ramadan. Availability may also be affected as players possibly make themselves unavailable. Ramadan starts 1st September 2008. Clubs to note.
