| 2000 – the millennium –
and now twenty-eight seasons of Thames Valley League cricket
have been completed.
The inaugural meeting of the original League was on 14th
April, 1970 and league cricket commenced in May, 1972. We
had 14 clubs initially, two more joining in 1975, as did two
more in 1979. In 1988 a further two clubs joined and one departed.
The following year we gained another club to ensure our complement
of 20. Following our reconstitution, 1993 saw 39 clubs join
the league, 30 from the Lee 75 and Morrant Three Counties,
both of which were disbanded. We then elected 9 new clubs
to the reconstituted league. In 1994 with one club joining,
we were at our full size of 60 clubs. 2000 sees us with 51
clubs including two at 3rd eleven only and playing in divisions
set out in the 2000 Fixtures section of this Web Site.
